Highs & Lows for Nurishment backed Hornby at Silverstone
Totally Motorsport’s Junior Academy driver Kyle Hornby experienced some success in his Nurishment JHR Motorsport Ginetta Junior at Silverstone. Practice on Thursday and Friday Friday went well and Kyle was happy with his car and set up apart from the usual lack of pace from his engine which meant slipstreaming was proving difficult. Qualifying was average due to the engine problem which meant he could only manage 12th.
As usual Kyle made a good start in race 1 on the Saturday and immediately moved up the field to end up 9th. Finishing position in race 1 placed him 9th on the grid for race 2, another good start saw Kyle catapult up to 7th and eventually moved up one more place to finish 6th along with second fastest lap of the race..
On Sunday with Hornby on P6, we were hoping for a podium finish and even though Kyle made a good start and held 6th for most of the race with the leading bunch, he was ‘attacked’ by Harper which sent him wide and dropped to 8th. An incident at Lufield caused the safety car to come out and another incident caused by our Harper friend resulted in the race being red flagged and was not restarted. As far as we are aware, Kyle ended up 8th but may have been moved up to 6th due to several drivers being summoned to the stewards after the race and appeals being submitted by teams and drivers.
Meanwhile William Tregurtha, scored enough points at Silverstone to seal the 2016 Ginetta Junior Championship.
