Pro Tour Round 2,

After what felt like the longest winter ever and a mixture of results and emotion in the run up, we finally arrived in Germany. An 11 hour drive and weather that became uncomfortably hot brought us to Winterburg, Dirt Masters!

Thursday afternoon was a day for relaxing, settling into the apartment and scoping out the track; everything seemed to be in order apart from a new line towards the bottom last finishing jump but other than that same as the previous year!

Friday was a riding day, my brother and I set about dialling the track in and hitting some German single track through the woods! Safe to say they defiantly know how to build their stuff! Got some awesome GoPro footage I will be editing and uploading soon!

Saturday was the serious day! Qualifying! Racing to me has always had riders around to push me while riding so I have always found qualifying difficult, just myself on the gate, one full complete run, no mistakes start to finish! I had a pretty good run, felt I took a few corners safe and came up a tad short on the last jump, but must have put the power down at the top because I finished the day in 11th! A great position to be in giving me first pick of the gate in heat 1 and second pick in heat 2!

Sunday! The Orange crush has been dusted off, the Mitas de cluttered from mud and the snow coming down outside! That's right, 26 degrees to snow over night; racing was going to be fun!
I couldn’t get my head around the gate on Sunday, so I knew I had some work to do! My first heat I had gate 1 on the inside but had to settle into second and defend my position down to the line and make it through to the second heat!

Round 2! Bad gate again and into the first corner in 3rd, I had to make a move somewhere, inside line on the table into the third corner saw me overshoot it and hit the floor hard! After winding myself and landing on an existing dead leg, the fans who had lined the track from top to bottom on both sides, screamed for me all the way to the finish line.

25th is where I finished after the weekend, not where I had hoped to be after my 11th in Qualification but a great start to the season and a massive boost knowing that I have the capability to be up there this year!
Big thanks to O’Neal for all the new gear over the weekend, Orange Bikes, Mitas Tyres, fiveten, jejames cycles for getting me there and through the weekend and a massive shout out to Nurishment Active for their support and time to get some liquid recovery down me, heal the leg up and see you all in Fort William, Scotland for the next round of the MTB 4X Pro Tour in three weeks time.
